(Bolton Valley, Vermont)
*Greetings from the UVM Outing Club!*
My name is Kevin Argentieri and on behalf of the *University of Vermont Outing Club* my comrade Susan Prescott and I would like to extend a formal invitation to IOCA and all its members to the *2010 UVM Outing Club Winter Classic*. In just a few weeks our club will be conducting this 3 stage winter adventure relay race for the second year. Our first year was a great success but we need you to make our second year even better since we will now be opening up the competition to members of other college and university outdoor rganizations. To top off the competition, the UVM Outing Club would like to host as many participants as possible at our cabin located just a few minutes away from the location of this year's Winter Classic!
Many outing clubs from New England and northern New York have already been contacted but we would love for as many IOCA members to participate as possible. Here are a few quick details...
Date: Saturday February 27th
Location: Bolton Valley Resort (approx ½ hour outside Burlington, VT)
Format: 3 stage winter sport relay race...
1st leg - downhill ski (giant slalom style on alpine, tele, or snowboard gear)
2nd leg - snowshoe (through some of Bolton Valley's best trails)
3rd leg - cross country ski (freestyle on groomed trails)
The race is designed for teams of 3, though those especially tough and upfor the challenge are welcome to run solo!
Cost:
Event registration only: $30 per team
OR
Event registration AND accommodations at the UVMOC cabin: $45 per team
(includes roof over head Friday and Saturday night, breakfast Saturday and
Sunday mornings, and dinner Saturday night)
This will be a great inter-club networking event! We do not currently have a cap on the number of entries for the event but space at the cabin is limited so individual outing clubs should let us know their interest as soon as possible! All are welcome so please spread the word widely!
Please feel free to email or call me with any questions. My email is Kevin.Argentieri@uvm.edu and I can also be reached at (215) 582-8911.
Head counts should be good for now and more details to follow... More snow is in the forecast so we hope to hear from you soon!
Think snow...
- Kevin and Susan
