Collegiate Canoe and Kayak National Championship
(Old Mill Park Rappahannock River Fredericksburg, VA 22401)

Join the Virginia Outdoor Center and the American Canoe Association as we host the Collegiate Canoe & Kayak National Championship on the Rappahannock River.

These downriver races are for canoe and kayak racers in both whitewater and flat-water, the fastest time from point A to B, wins. The race course is a distance between 2 - 5 miles, and the moving water is up to Class 2 rapids. Day 1. Individual and team races: classes - OC1 Men, OC1 Women, OC2 Mixed, K1 Men, K1 Women. Day 2. Relay -Three 2 person teams, at least 2 women per team.

Any United States college or university can send a team to compete in the National Collegiate Championship. A full team consists of at least 3 men and 3 women (and a faculty advisor). Each team must have a designated team captain or coach. Canoes and Kayaks must meet ACA's boat-specifications. They can be loaned (for free) by the VA Outdoor Center on race day.

Pre-registration is required and camping is available on site. Remember that no specialized equipment is needed, and there is no experience necessary. Although, the more skill your team has increases your team’s chance of winning a medal!

Check out www.americancanoe.org under ‘What We Do’ / ‘Competition’ / ‘Collegiate Championships’. Be on the lookout for further information about registration, camping, and a course map. Also, ACA has a Facebook Event Page (Collegiate Canoe & Kayak National Championship) with pictures of past events.
