[IOCA] Fall Lake George!

Dearest fellow IOCA members:

Who is ready for another annual FALL LAKE GEORGE?!
We know you are, but here's a reminder:

Once again, the fall season is descending upon us, which means.... Fall Lake
George! Like every year for the past 80 years, the Rensselaer Outing Club
has hosted the Intercollegiate Outing Club event, Fall Lake George. This
year, the weekend-long event will begin on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2010 and go
until SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2010.

What's the big deal?
It's only the biggest and best outdoor event of the season!

Let me paint you a picture:
250 camping enthusiasts including college students and alumni from all over
the east coast will be arriving at Lake George on September 24th. Everyone
has the option of taking a canoe over to the island, or getting a ride in a
powerboat. Once at the island, everyone will set up camp and settle in for
the night. On Saturday the real fun begins! All different types of trips
will be going out, such as hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and
cliff jumping. That evening, a huge feast is served to all FLG goers,
followed by a traditional square dance. If you have never square danced
before, you don't need any sort of dancing experience, so you *can't* say
you don't like it until you have tried it! On Sunday everyone heads home
with loads of great stories.

This year everyone will be departing from Veterans Beach in Bolton Landing
(same place as last year and the year before). You can find directions on
the Rensselaer outing club website, listed below. Plan to arrive at Veterans
Beach anytime after 2:00 PM on Friday, but after dark we cannot guarantee
that any boats will be able to leave the beach so the earlier you can
arrive, the better.

If you're still on the fence about coming, talk to someone who has been to
FLG before! They'll surely be able to tell you what a fantastic time they
had.

As always, Fall Lake George is a DRY EVENT. It really ends up being a lot
more fun this way so I urge all club leaders to pass this information on to
those who will be attending.
