Hello all,

I'm just checking in with everything before we start the Big Parts of this
project. As you know Ouray is coming in a few days and I will be making my
way soon on Jan. 7th till the 11th.
We wanted to know who was still on board, wanted to help (Pictures, Video,
other...), pro-deal, sponsor, advertise, and or wanting more info.

I wanted all to know we aren't looking to make BIG money as we pride
ourselves on being minimalists we just want to be a little above hand to
mouth status.

It looks like our facebook group = Micro Ice Climbing Sites in the Northeast
(Guidebook Project) is making head way really well! @
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=115710827449

Again bellow is the original letter sent out over this year explaining the
project.

Thanx All,

Enjoy Life & Its Adventures,

Hello,

I would like to make this into a show or documentary with your help if
possible
aka getting all this on tape... the process of making an Ice Climbing Book
from start up to finished product!
Or something related.

Read below and let us know what you think of this opportunity.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Hey everyone,

I am a recent Grad from Castlelton State College that is looking to mildly
publicate some not so spoken about ice climbs.
As the Outing Club President at CSC, taking some Outdoor Rec. Classes with
Green Mountain Adventure Tours through CSC,Climbing with VICE - Vertical Ice
Climbing Enthusiasts (a chapter of the Tufts Mountain Club and Linked into
the IOCA - Intercollegiate Outing Club Association), as well as with other
local friends I have developed a good knowledge of the areas as well a
hunger for more.

With all that I and others from VICE (Vertical Ice Climbing Enthusiasts)
needed a project after College and something along our deep interests. So
after years of searching on the net and in guide books I found that little
was said about the small stuff. We all know a good amount about the
big ice and
most are timid about hitting that for the 1st time so why not jump on that
niche that hasn't been filled and make a guide book for smaller micro Ice
Climbing sites up here in the Northeast!?!

So here is the base idea behind the *Micro Ice Climbing in the Northeast -
Guidebook.*
**
*Please remember:*
*-This is the base and first publicated announcement of this project.*
*-This is going to happen and it is yes our first time making a real guide
book yet we are determined and resourceful.*
*-This e-mail is the kick off and real thing as far as getting this project
down for this Ice Season. *
*-We aren't looking for a quick buck as we want people to get involved,
learn, conserve, be safe, be in the know how to go, and pubicate this
experience.*
**
I would like to pick at Vermont (and other areas mostly unknown) and hit a
few sites around Castleton.
*There are over 6+ places ---> Birdseye Side Cliffs, Herrick Mt Sluff (BIG
untouched ice - need hike day hike in or snowmobile), Watkins Hill Rd
Ravine, Lake St Cathrine, West Rutland Quarry, Middle Road, and some that we
will need to ask a few owners (quarries and other places).
*Others like the road sides (Rt 4 - West Rutland, VT & Rt 100 - Granville,
VT (water falls) + Rt 112 - Woodstock NH), Eco in NH, Northeast Kingdom in
VT as well as many others!

There are also the known ones like Bolton Quarry, Lake
Willoughby<http://www.6degrees.com/~alden/climbing/willoughby.html>
, Smuggler's Notch<http://www.6degrees.com/~alden/climbing/smugglersice.html>
and
Bristol Cliffs (as well as Mount Washington, Kinsman, Frankenstein, Cannon
Cliff, New Hampshire<http://www.6degrees.com/~alden/climbing/cannonice.html> &
Poke-O-Moonshine, Adirondacks).

I would like to do most of the climbing, pictures, rating and traveling in
winter break for 2 weeks or w/e (TBA)

I need people and connections to *guide makers*, *publishers* (I called and
left a message at TMC Books & Falcon), Pro Guides and Ice Climbing enthusiasts
that would like to be involved, Ice Rating knowledge, Sites (in ME, MASS,
NY, NH, VT, and others), Photography/Video, Blogging/Web Site/Book info on
site collecting, and lastly some Sponsors would be great and a necessity!

-We would like to show segments of Ouray Ice Fest and other events. It is a
goal to show the serious times & the humor part of the "Ice Climber". Who
would be a group of climbers and those we come across.
*Everyone Please let me know what I should Add or Edit for this great
project!
+ Please Forward to others that may be interested...

P.S. Please don't steal this idea as it has been a dream for many of us and
legal turmoil would be worthless in the first place!

Thanks for your time and reply at your convenience!
