The 80-hour Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course trains participants to
effectively manage and treat backcountry medical situations ranging from a
sprained ankle or lacerated finger to hypothermia or lightning injuries.
Being certified as a Wilderness First Responder by SOLO, one of the leading
wilderness medicine institutions, will allow you to be safer when you're in
the backcountry and to be a stronger candidate for outdoor-industry
employment.

Instruction and certification is provided by SOLO, and the Harvard
First-Year Outdoor Program (FOP) is hosting the course on the Harvard campus
in Cambridge, MA.  The course runs from Saturday, March 21 through Sunday,
March 29, 2009.  The cost of the course is $590 ($490 for Harvard
undergraduates).  A non-refundable, $200 deposit is required with your
registration information to secure a spot in the course; this is due by
February 15, 2009.

Room and board is not included in the tuition price.  The registration
packet contains information on student housing and local rooming options as
well as directions for using public transportation to get to the Harvard
campus from Boston bus and train depots (South and North Stations,
respectively).  The packet also contains an equipment list for the course.
