For those of you who don't recognize my name, I'm an alumnus who is
involved with cave rescue (and a co-captain of the Albany-Scoharie
County Cave Rescue Team)

I've been encouraging folks in the ROC to take any of the courses the
National Cave Rescue Commission (NCRC) offers.   Since the local
courses are out for the foreseeable future I highly recommend that
you look into cutting the last week of classes (exams aren't THAT
important!) and come down to Mentone AL this year.

To entice you, I wanted to mention that there are scholarships being
offered this year to help defray the cost.

The deadline for application has not been set in stone yet (the
scholarships were approved Saturday) but by no later than Feb 20th
would be best just to make sure.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.  Also, PLEASE
disseminate this information as widely as possible to other outing
clubs, grottos and the like.

The NCRC will be awarding two $200 dollar scholarships to help
students attend the national weeklong seminar in Mentone, AL May 3-10, 2008.
To be considered please send a caving resume, 3 letters of recommendation
from NSS members, and a cover letter describing your financial need
and how training would benefit the caving community in your region.
