1. IOCA trip to NH's White Mountains, NOV 11-12

The MIT Outing Club (MITOC) will be hosting a trip for the Intercollegiate
Outing Club Association (IOCA)to New Hampshire's White Mountains, on
Saturday November 11th and Sunday November 12th. Outing Club members from
around the northeast are invited to join us at MITOC's "Camelot" cabin near
North Grotton, NH. It's is very close to the famous Rumney rock climbing
crags, and a short drive to excellent hiking in Franconia Notch and other
areas of the Whites.

We are still working out details of whether the cabin will be available to
us on Friday night, so we may have to camp outdoors at the cabin on Friday ,
or come up on Saturday morning, but we'll know better soon. On Saturday and
Sunday, we'll organize a variety of trips, depending on what folks want to
do. We will provide Saturday and Sunday breakfasts, and dinner on Saturday
night. The cost will be $15 per person, for food and the cabin. You will be
responsible for organizing your own transportation. The cabin has
electricity, but no running water. There is a stream for water, so plan to
treat water or bring your own.

The trip posting on the IOCA website is here:

2. Thanksgiving weekend trail-work trip in NYC area

New York-New Jersey Trail Conference Thanksgiving work trip
(New York Metro area)
25.november.2006

Home for Thanksgiving Break? Nothing to do? Come out for a day of fun and
hard work with the NY-NJ Trail Conference. A major project is under way to
rebuild the Appalachian Trail over Bear Mountian to withstand the heavy
usage this area gets. This is your chance to be part of a major and historic
project recently featured in the AT magazine, Journeys. Work will be from
9am to about 4pm. Food, drinks (water) and t-shirts will be provided!

3. Fall Lake George 2006 is another success

Once again the Rensselaer Outing Club (ROC) hosted a great trip to beautiful
Lake George, continuing this long-standing IOCA tradition. Well over 200
students and alums arrived on Friday evening, and had a great day of hiking,
climbing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming on Saturday. Unfortunately, the
weather report for Sunday necessitated that the canoes leave on Saturday
night. But we managed to get in an awesome barbeque and square dance before
packing up and heading across the lake in the darkness. Many thanks to
Scott Youmans, the ROC crew, and everyone else who helped to make it a fun
and safe trip.

Please post your photos if you have any!
