Hello IOCA clubs and members!
(Clubs, please forward this to your members as you see fit...)
A few pieces of news now that spring is here, and the warm weather sports
are starting up!
1. Spring Conference
2. IOCA officer elections
3. AMC discount offer for IOCA members!
------------------------------------
1. Spring Conference
This weekend (April 21-23) is IOCA's annual Spring Conference. It is being
hosted by the Mount Holyoke College Outing Club at the DAR State Forrest in
lovely western Massachusetts. There will be all sorts of outdoor activities
on Saturday, followed by a cookout and contra dancing. The registration
deadline is past, but if you have any questions, contact Michelle Moon
<mrmoon at mtholyoke.edu>. Don't forget your climbing shoes and dancing shoes!
------------------------------------
2. IOCA officer elections
This weekend at Spring Conference, we will hold the annual elections for
IOCA officer positions. There are many opportunities to develop your
leadership skills, to network with outing clubs from near and far, and to
contact other outdoor organizations. IOCA has been growing again in recent
years, and the possibilities are endless! The list of officers is on the
website at: http://www.ioca.org/officers/. Most positions, including
Executive Secretary, are available for renewal. We could sure use help with
the directory and maintaining contact with member clubs... and if anyone is
interested in producing a regular IOCAN newsletter, that would be a great
thing!
If you are interested in a position, or just in helping out, let me know...
even if you can't make it to Spring Conference!

3. AMC discount offer for IOCA members!
The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) has very kindly offered to extend many
of it's member discounts to members of IOCA clubs. The AMC is one of the
nation's oldest outdoors recreation and conservation organizations, and
provides a multitude of opportunities to enjoy the mountains, rivers and
trails of the northeast. The discounts include hut and tentsite fees, and
many workshops, programs and courses on outdoor skills and leadership. The
details and contact information are below. Many thanks to the AMC!
