From adamscs at MIT.EDU Fri Jul 1 12:30:27 2005 From: adamscs at MIT.EDU (Christiaan Adams) Date: Fri Jul 1 12:55:24 2005 Subject: [IOCA] IOCA - New Trip Out and Song Book request Message-ID: <5.2.1.1.2.20050701124210.03d939c8@hesiod> Hello IOCA members, Two pieces of news before the holiday weekend. 1. New Trip Out: Wilderness First Responder Course 28 July to 06 August, 2005 Wilkes-Barre, PA Details the IOCA website: http://www.ioca.org/trips/?view=20050620114440#20050620114440 2. Song Fest - IOCA song book: We are tracking down the history of "Song Fest", the IOCA song book. It was a collection of 300 or more folk and camp songs, printed in the late 1940s and 1950s. We have also found possible references to printings as late as 1971. The book went by various names, including IOCA Song Book, IOCA Song Fest, Song Fest, New Song Fest, New Song Fest Deluxe, etc. It appears to have been published by Crown Publishing in the 1950s, and possibly by Charles Hansen later on. The editors were Dick and Beth Best, who appear to own the copyright under the name of R. L. Best. If you know anything about this book, the editors or the publishers, please contact us (info@ioca.org). If you happen to have a copy, we would be interested in knowing the title, edition or printing number, year, publisher, etc. Maybe we can revive this wonderful resource for IOCA, and for all those who love to sing around campfires! Happy 4th of July! -Christiaan ============================== Christiaan Adams Executive Secretary Intercollegiate Outing Club Association info@ioca.org http://www.ioca.org ==============================
